Memorial Inscription Verses
The words of several epitaphs we have recorded in some Churchyards
It is the Lord let Him do what seemeth Him good
Sad cause of grief for here in dust/ lies a dear friend, good, virtuous,
just/great cause of joy, when Christ shall come/ and break up every grave and
tomb/ whilst at the mighty Sovereign voice/sinners shall tremble, Saints
rejoice.
Blessed are the dead who die/in the Lord from henceforth/yea saith the spirit
that they may rest from their labours.
In steadfast hope of that glad day/here lies entombed my weary clay/
Reader awake believe repent/thy bones as mine are only lent./
Thy day is hastening when like me/thou too shall dust and ashes be/
Forsake thy sins in Christ believe/and thou shalt meet with d[---](destiny?)
We cannot Lord thy purpose see, but all is well that's done by Thee"
A loved one sleeping
I will trust/ and not be afraid.
At last/ until we meet again
Gone from our home but/ not from our hearts
Her life a beautiful memory/ her absence a silent grief
Though men become strong/ that they come to/ four score years / yet is their
strength then but/ labour and sorrow
"They died rejoicing in hope."
Peace which passeth/all understanding.
Reunited in/heaven
Blessed are the pure in heart./
Into the sunshine/until we meet again
In heavenly love abiding/God bless
How sweet the name of/ Jesus sounds
Memories, images and/precious thoughts/that shall not die and/cannot be
destroyed./
'She sleepeth with those she loved.'
'Until the day breaks'
He bringeth them into the haven/where they would be
Then they are glad because they are at rest.
In God's keeping
I look for the resurrection/of the dead and of the life of/the world to come./
Cease father mother to complain/God lent and claimed his own again
These lovely babes were called away/to mingle with their native clay/nipp'd in
the bud, it was god's will/to land them safe on Zion's hill./
Where the wicked cease from troubling/and the weary are at rest.
They are not dead but sleeping./
My time is come next may be thine/therefore prepare while thou hast time/for
that thou must preparéd be/to live with Him who died for thee
Gracious is the Lord and righteous: yea our God is merciful
'Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord/......./the.......even so saith the
Lord/they rest from their labours

Farewell my husband and children dear/my friends & neighbours too/the lord
was......time hence/........(more verse follows - but too badly eroded)
Until the day break and shadows flee
Redeemed with the precious blood of Christ

Time passes/memories stay/ loved and remembered/everyday/
A sudden change with grief I tell/he had not time to bid his friends
farewell/reader prepare thyself, make no delay/'tis God alone that knows your
dying day./
And what I say unto you I say unto all/watch
Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the son of God
cometh.
"Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not, the son of man
cometh." Matthew xxiv 44.
Watch thou for Ye know not what hour our lord doth come.
Take ye heed watch and pray for ye know not when the time is/ Matthew Chap. 24 v
42
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Lord in trouble have I visited/ thee I poured out a prayer when/ thy chastening
was upon me./
